Sometimes beginnings are painless, motivation is effortless, and passion comes like a magnet with hope and optimism. Think of the start of a new year, the start of a new relationship, the start of a new job. Everything and everyone is on your side.
Then, things happen. Passion declines and suddenly we find ourselves stuck, wondering where all our aspirations went. Here are 10 things I have realized about motivation.
1. Motivation is Everywhere
Our morning coffee, a workout, a satisfying meal, a movie night: these are personal delights that invigorate our days. We immerse in the little pleasures and they give meaning to our life without us realizing. Being grateful for that can help appreciate our lives a bit more, and give us inspiration in our daily routines. Put this in action by starting a gratitude journal.
2. Motivation can only get us so far
